Interested in adding a Sunrock puppy to your family?

So you've looked through my website, checked out my dogs and current/upcoming litters, and decided you're ready for a new puppy. First off, congratulations! I'm honored that you've decided to add a Sunrock puppy to your household and I look forward to sharing the joy, frustration, laughter, and grief that we'll navigate together over the next 12 -15 years. Let's get started making this dream a reality.

Step One: Puppy Application

Once you've decided I'm the breeder for you you'll need to head over to my application page (link below). This is a required step that will give me information on what you're looking for and make sure you're prepared to bring in a new puppy. There are no wrong answers and it's simply a way for me ensure the best match is made between a puppy and a person. Please note that just because you've filled out and submitted an application it does not guarantee you'll be getting a puppy. This is not a failure on either of our us, but the simple fact that not every breeder and every puppy buyer will be a good match. When this happens, I will try to work with you and recommend breeders who are producing what you're looking for.

Step Two: Phone Call

After your application has been submitted you should hear from me within a week, from the preferred contact method listed within the application. At that point we will set up a time to talk on the phone that works for both of us. This is when I'll ask for clarification on your application answers and get a little more in-depth information from you. This is also where you can ask any questions you may have. Feel free to begin a list of questions as they come to you beforehand so they're readily available for the phone call. I'm happy to talk about my current litter, individual puppies, future litters, why I chose these specific dogs for the breeding, what I expect out of these puppies, if I feel like this litter is a good match for you or if there's a future litter plan that meets your criteria better, etc.

Step Three: Waitlist And Holding Fee

Your next step will be getting put on my waitlist. This is a list of people who are serious about adding one of my puppies to their family and the next step in getting a puppy. To be put on the list I require a non-refundable holding fee of $400 to weed out tire kickers. This fee will be applied to the final puppy price. The remaining portion of the puppy price will be due at 8 weeks, once final evaluations are complete.

The holding fee is able to be rolled over to a new litter if there isn't a puppy who meets your criteria within the current litter. Or if one of the upcoming litters I have planned is a specific cross you want a puppy out of.

Step Four: Hurry Up And Wait

Once the above steps are completed we wait for the puppies to start developing their personalities, or for the litter to arrive if you wanted a puppy from an upcoming litter. I will update this website on a weekly basis, once puppies are here, with formal photos of the litter and individual bios with my thoughts and observations as the grow. Typically starting around week four.

You can also give me a follow on Facebook, where I'll post candid photos of the puppies multiple times a week. I strongly encourage you to reach out to me with any questions you may have and begin to get your home ready for a puppy. This should include setting up a vet appointment within a day or two of welcoming your puppy home and some type of puppy socialization / intro to the home puppy class at your local training club.

Step Five: Final Evaluations

Week eight is here and final evaluations are done! You've moved up on the waitlist and there's a puppy / puppies who should fit into your lifestyle that are available. Once puppy picks begin everyone will have 24 hours to get back to me to confirm you're still ready and wanting a puppy.

For example, I've reached out to the person one on my list and puppy X, Y, and Z should meet their criteria. They have 24 hours from that point to choose their puppy and get the final payment sent to me. Once I have confirmation from person one I'll reach out to person two and let them know that puppy A and B would be a perfect fit. However, puppy A is a different gender then they were hoping for, and puppy B is a different color then they wanted. They'll have 24 to decide if they want puppy A or B, despite not meeting all of the criteria, or if they want to roll the dice and see if there's a puppy in the next litter that checks off all the boxes. Then on to person three.

Once puppy picks are finalized, I'll send out the contract for everyone to sign, confirm the payment went through, and set up a date / time for puppy pick-ups.

* Show / breed rights are available on a strict case by case basis. Puppies will be evaluated at 8 weeks for show / breed quality. Show / breed picks will be chosen before pet / companion picks. First pick will always go to Sunrock Kennel.

* We reserve the right to refuse a sale, for any reason. We also reserve the right to cancel a reservation at any time, for any reason. If the cancellation happens on our end, your deposit will be returned in full.

FAQ'S

How much are your puppies?

Companion puppies start at $1,800. This price may increase depending on the parent's titles, pedigree, or additional cost associated with the breeding (importing semen + AI fees, unplanned c-section, etc.). The price for each litter will be listed on their individual page. All puppies will be the same regardless of gender or coat / eye color.

I've filled out your application. Now what?

After I've received your application we'll set up a time for a phone call where you can ask me any questions you may have, and I can get more in-depth information on what you're looking for. If we decide to move forward your name will go on my waitlist, and you can start getting ready to welcome a new puppy in your life.

Can I pick my own puppy?

Yes, and no. The information provided in your application will help me narrow down which puppy/puppies will fit your lifestyle best. If there are several puppies that fit your criteria when it's your turn to pick then you'll get to decide between them. The more set you are on a specific gender/color means the puppy best suited to you may not be available right away.

How to get my new puppy home?

I will not sell a puppy sight unseen. However, there are several ways to get your new puppy home. We can meet at a public location in Springfield, Missouri. Or I can meet you up to two hours from Springfield at no cost. I may be able to travel further than that for a fee to cover my time and gas. Or you can fly into our local airport and bring your new puppy with you in the cabin.

Do you leave tails and dewclaws on?

Front dewclaws are left on all my puppies.

Every Australian Shepherd will be docked to meet the breed standard.

For now, every Miniature American Shepherd will be docked, but the future may see me leaving tails on the puppies born with full tails.

Do you sell breeding rights?

I will occasionally sell a puppy to a show/breed home. These puppies will be sold on a co-own contract where I'll remain as a co-owner until health testing is completed, after two years of age. I do not sell breeding rights to someone who is just wanting to breed their dog.

How do I pay for my puppy?

I accept Zelle, money order/cashiers check, or cash on pick up.

When do I pick my new puppy up?

Around 8 weeks puppies get their first round of DHPP, health check, and eye exam from the vet. I wait a week after to ensure there's no vaccine reaction or adverse effects and they're ready to meet their new families at 9 weeks.
